Our Beliefs

The members of Kingstown Baptist Church do affirm and declare their belief in the Christian faith as set forth in the following statement of doctrine.

We believe in the Bible to be the inspired Word of God. Men were inspired and directed by the Holy Spirit as they wrote the Scriptures.

We believe in the Trinity:

  • God the Father – Creator and sustainer of heaven and earth.

  • God the Son - Who was born of a virgin and is himself God, and died for our sins and rose from the dead according to the scripture.

  • God the Holy Spirit – who indwells every born again believer in Jesus Christ (Genesis 1: 1-2; John 1:1-18, 10:9-10,15:1-27, 16:1-6; Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 1:9-11; Isaiah 7:14, 9:6; 1 Peter 2:24; 1 Corinthians 15:3; 1 Timothy 1:15; John16:13-14).

We believe the Scriptures are inerrant in the original writings and that they are the supreme authority of faith and practice (John 5:39, 17:7; Romans 15:4; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; Hebrew 4:12; 1 Peter 1:25; 2 Peter 1:19-21).

We believe that every human being is born a sinner and is under the judgment of God until he/she receives Jesus Christ as personal saviour. Until one receives Christ, he/she is already condemned.

We believe that a person must come to the age of accountability. This is the age at which a person can distinguish between right and wrong. At this point he/she is accountable for his/her sins (Romans 3:23, 6:23; John 3:3,5,7,18,36; John 5:24; Romans 5:12-21; Ephesians 2:1-3)

We believe in the reality of Satan and the existence of demonic forces. We further believe that Satan is the enemy of God and destroyer of man (Job 1:2; Isaiah 14:12 –14; 1 Peter 5:8; Ephesians 6:10-13).

We believe that salvation is experienced by faith in the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ and his substitutionary death on the cross of Calvary. We believe that salvation is experienced when a person – repents and receives forgiveness of sin through the shed blood of the same Jesus Christ; and—surrenders his/her life and heart to Jesus Christ for leadership and direction.

We believe that salvation is a free gift of God to such a person (Ephesians 2:8-9; John 3;16 –18, 36; John 5;24; Romans 10:9-10).

We believe that God’s salvation is once and for always from the point of conversion to the time we are present with Christ in heaven (John 10:27 –29; John 3:36; Philippians 1:6; 1 Peter 1:5; Romans 6:23).

We believe that all born again believers in the Lord Jesus Christ are part of the church, the body of Christ (Ephesians 1:22 –23; Colossians 1:18; Romans 12: 4-5; 1 Corinthians 3:16; 1Peter 2:5).

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ will come again. He shall take his living saints and also those Christians who have died, to be with him eternally. We further believe that dead shall precede the living (Matthew 25: 31-36; John 14: 1-3; Acts 1:9-11; Philippians 3:20 –21; 1 Thessalonians 4: 13 – 18; Titus 2:11 –16; Hebrews 9:26 –28; 2 Peter 3: 3-15; Revelation 1: 7-8; Rev. 22: 7-20).

We believe in the bodily resurrection of all the dead – those that are saved unto eternal life and those that are lost unto eternal damnation is the Lake of Fire (Daniel 12:2-3; John 5:25 –29; Revelation 20:5-6).

We believe that the memorial supper instituted by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is essentially a New Testament ordinance declarative of his sacrificial death. It should be reverently observed by all born again believers in Jesus Christ. Its significance is to commemorate the Lord’s death till he comes. We further believe that the emblems of bread and wine are symbols of but not the actual body and blood of Christ (Exodus 12: 1-14; Matthew 26:26-29; Mark 14:22-25; Luke 22:17-20; John 6:28-58; 1 Corinthians 10:14-21; 1 Corinthians 11:23-32).

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ shall return to judge the world in righteousness and to establish his Kingdom (Acts 10:42; Acts 17:31; 2 Timothy 4:1,8; Hebrew 10:30).

We believe that a person who receives Christ as Saviour ought to be baptized. This is an act of obedience to the Lord’s command (Romans 6:4-14, Matthew 3:13-17, 28:19-20; Acts 8:38-39, 19:1-5).
