UPDATE ON OUR EFFORT #26 (December 12th)
🌋 Since the eruption, our provision of foodstuff to people in the disaster area has been ongoing on a regular basis

🌋With just a few days to go before Christmas we are at it again as we are about to do one of our biggest intervention assistance so far

🌋 And in the spirit of Christmas we are adding a lil extra sweetness to the food bag for each home. What is Christmas without a lil Vincentian blackcake?!!

🌋 Often when we minister in this way, we include a note of love to the recipients

🌋 The Kingstown Baptist Church is grateful to all who have support this disaster relief effort over this period. This includes not only our members but our friends from God’s family across the Caribbean region. In particular, SendRelief of IMB has been immensely instrumental in making our disaster response to be of such meaningful magnitude. Blessings to all.

🌋 The Kingstown Baptist Church is living up to the same motto that guided our response when the volcano last erupted in 1979:
”Kingstown Baptist Church.....the whole gospel for the whole man”
With your help we are living up to this as we respond in this current eruption.

UPDATE ON OUR EFFORT #25 (June 29th)
🌋 We are nearing the end of Phase II and contemplating our approach to Phase III of our KBC Volcano Relief Efforts.
We have already surpassed the 15, 000 marker for meals provided. But apart from this, there are some NEW DEVELOPMENTS related to three of our churches that are in the disaster area. Please view this video to grasp what is facing these churches.
🌋 Our Relief Consultant, Pauline is helping us shape what our relief efforts will look like in the upcoming Phase III. You’ll be interested in these proposals for relevant and necessary intervention that she shares in this short video report.
🌋 In order to do what we’ve been doing we have had some hidden heroes working tirelessly and serving selflessly. This short video unveils SOME of our heroic volunteers. Keep them in your prayers

UPDATE ON OUR EFFORT #24 (June 11th)
🌋 Here is the major announcement for this week. We went past the 10,000 mark for meals provided to the shelters. The total meals up to the end of this Friday is 11,714.

🌋 As we are now halfway through Phase II of our relief efforts and anticipating to help the people resettle in their communities (i.e. Phase III), we must say a HUGE thank you to international, regional and local organizations, churches and individuals who have given sacrificially to make this relief the success effort that it is.

🌋 Three of our Baptist Churches are in the evacuated area. Please remember them and their pastors as they are about to embark on the arduous task of resettlement and rehabilitation. They will need support for this journey.

🌋 We met with the three pastors of our displaced churches last week to ascertain some of their areas of need as they get ready to move back into the evacuated areas. Here is a need list that was generated through consulting with them.

🌋 Our visiting consultant (Pauline) met with our Disaster Response Team this week to brief them on negotiating the various stages of responding to disasters (including the heroic, honeymoon, and disillusionment phases).
This session was a much needed time of instruction and fortification for the team.

🌋 Join us in this very special prayer that each time the meal recipients read the Bible verse that accompanies each meal that God will use that to draw them to a relationship with him.

🌋 One of our greatest joys this week was receiving notes from a couple of shelter managers to express appreciation fir our efforts and to say what it means to receive such a ministry from our church.

UPDATE ON OUR EFFORT #23 (June 4th)
🌋 MAJOR GAME-CHANGER: This week saw the deadline for thousands of evacuees to exit the shelters and return to their homes in the orange zone. We are already preparing to meet the new needs created by this move
🌋 Our relief efforts have been boosted by the arrival of Pauline Everett, who’s here (from the UK) to bring her expertise to bear on our various disaster response projects.
Pauline is very experienced, having headed up the Red Cross (during the eruption of the volcano in Montserrat, work with the UN as a consultant and managed various church social-action projects.
She addressed our church last Sunday about the way forward.

🌋 With the withdrawal of the World Central Kitchen from the national effort to feed the evacuees, our role in providing meals for the evacuees who have remained in the shelters has increased. In fact over this week we have doubled the number of meals we have been providing.
We could not do it without the generous support of those who are becoming aware of our efforts. God bless you for helping.

🌋 We were especially grateful for the opportunity this week to come to the assistance of 96 of our nation’s frontline workers who have been displaced from their homes since the eruption.
We prepared and handed over bags of grocery items to them. A short message about the worth of Good Samaritans was also delivered (virtually) by Pastor Richards.

🌋 SendRelief is a major facilitator of our Phase II efforts. This assistance has been supplemented by a couple of other churches/individuals who are helping our efforts of delivering food packages by shipping various supplies to us. You are the heart of what we are doing. We are merely your hands here.

🌋 Over the course of this week a series of assessment meetings were held between our KBC Disaster Response head, our visiting consultant, and the pastors from each of the displaced churches. This was for the purpose of evaluating perceived emerging needs.
A comprehensive list was derived and can be made available upon request.

UPDATE ON OUR EFFORT #22 (May 29th)
🌋 We are at the end of the first week of PHASE II of our disaster relief. In this phase we have added TWO shelters in the Kingstown area to receive meals. We will do more distribution of grocery and household items in this Phase. Here’s a look at some of what came out of the kitchen over the past week.

🌋 Our relief effort will be augmented in PHASES II & III by the presence and expert guidance from Pauline Everett. Pauline is highly experienced in Disaster Relief Management and Administration of Social Action Programmes.
She comes to us with the blessings of Yardley Baptist Church (UK)

🌋 Take a look at some of the spiritual food that is going out with the physical food.

🌋 The Puppet Ministry has been extremely effective (and BUSY) at the various shelters over this past week. Here’s a little taste of what they did.

The team was blessed this week with the acquisition of additional puppets which will enhance their ministry.

UPDATE ON OUR EFFORT #21 (May 21st)
🌋 One of our most effective Shelter Intervention Ministries has been with the children. The puppet ministry in particular has been a huge hit again this past week.
Many of the shelters are now actually requesting a visit from our puppet team and dancers. Take a look at these pictures and snippets of our Ministry team in action.

🌋 Our Small Groups have continued to minister at the shelters through devotions, worship singing exhortations etc. Here are some new pictures from a recent Shelter visit by two of our Small Groups in tandem.
One team did the exhortation for the adults while the second team engaged the children in ministry.

🌋 Our kitchen team rounded off Phase I of our efforts providing daily meals with a flurry of delectable servings (see the pictures below). They will continue to do this into Phase II.

🌋 🌋 MAJOR NEWS: We have just now moved into Phase II of our 3-Phase response to providing relief.
Phase I was primarily providing meals (nearly 7,000 total) along with various ministry interventions at the shelters.
Over Phase II we will continue providing meals, but we will now supplement this by providing food packages with (essential supplies), to displaced persons and those moving out of the shelters.
We thank God for SendRelief who played a MAJOR role in Phase I and have committed to supporting our Phase II effort. Here are some pictures of us getting set up to roll into Phase II.

With your help we are living up to this as we respond in this current eruption.

UPDATE ON OUR EFFORT #20 (May 15th)
🌋 A significant milestone was achieved today in our ongoing disaster response. Today we went past the 6,000 mark for number of meals prepared and delivered (currently 6065). We continue to be grateful for those who have come to our aid in this effort, particularly Send Relief. May God bless you as you help us.

🌋 In addition to preparing meals we also continue to supplement those in need with food boxes, care packages and water.
🌋 The feeding of the SPIRITUAL food has been ongoing, mainly through teams from our various small groups. We have open doors at many of the shelters so our teams are going regularly to do ministry in multiple forms. Here’s what one of our small groups did to share the word while entertaining.

🌋 To celebrate this landmark day our KBC Master BBQ Chef came in again to help us prepare this evening's dinner for the shelters. Baking for the side dish was done in-house also. The meal is even better than these pictures.

UPDATE ON OUR EFFORT #19 (May 11th)
🌋 Our young ladies in Girl Plus God did something special to help the mothers at one of the shelters celebrate Mother'sDay.
They prepared a sumptuous buffet for these ladies who have been evacuated out of their homes.

🌋 In addition to the special Mother’s Day meal the team conducted a very special service there, with inspirational worship singing and a timely word of exhortation for the mothers, done by Kasia.

🌋 A broad cross section of our church members are involved in the daily operation of the shelters as volunteers, counselors and even shelter managers. Here's a look at some of the volunteers working with the children at one shelter.

🌋 Next target for the provision of meals is 6000 by this week. What a blessing the kitchen volunteers are and all those who continue to support.
This is a very special ministry to the displaced people because as we feed with physical food it is creating pathways to allow us to feed with spiritual food also.
Here are the most recent meal-prep pictures.

UPDATE ON OUR EFFORT #18 (May 7th)
🌋 This is an amazing story. While the members of the Sandy Bay Baptist Church are in various shelter, one man took it upon himself to go back into the evacuated zone to check on the integrity of the roof under the weight of the ash.
On his own he worked to remove the thick layer of ash that was deposited on the roof and so prevent potential damage to the structure.
🌋 Two of our Shelter Ministries in particular are helping us to plant spiritual seeds among the children while they are displaced. There are the puppet ministry and teaching youngsters to play the drums. Various shelters benefited from these two ministries over the last week.

🌋 Our evangelism minister, Kevin Bailey, has been all in through this entire period: Doing sports evangelism at the shelters, transporting the puppet ministry team, clearing water and foodstuff at the port, delivering pallets of water etc. etc.
Say a prayer that his multiple efforts will plant seeds for kingdom growth.

🌋 Some of our front line workers are among the thousands who are displaced and have various needs similar to the people in the shelters. KBC is stepping up to help in this special area also.
🌋 A HUGE thank you EVERYONE who is giving on this page (see PayPal prompt) or in other ways to help us provide meals for the displaced people. You are indeed making a difference. The number of meals provided continue to climb. Here’s a view of some of what happened in our kitchen this week.

UPDATE ON OUR EFFORT #17 (May 3rd)
🌋 In order to increase the efficiency of meal preparation we’ve added yet another piece of equipment in the kitchen. It’s the MUCH NEEDED bread and cake mixer. And trust us when we say it’s already being put to good use (just see the goodies in these pics which are being cranked out).

🌋 Our master BBQ chef at KBC and his helper came in and helped us prepare 150 BBQ dinners on Saturday. What a blessing!!!

🌋 Something VERY special happened on Sunday. We were able to facilitate members of one of our sister Baptist churches in providing Sunday lunches to the evacuees at the very center where THEY THEMSELVES are finding shelter.
They obtained permission to conduct morning worship right there at the shelter and then they served lunch to the people afterwards.
This initiative was taken by Sis. Shermin Byron and Keshurne Bowens (a young leader at the church there....see his picture below), along with other members of that church (Overland Baptist Church).
In the midst of their own need they are reaching out to serve others.

UPDATE ON OUR EFFORT #16 (April 30th)
🌋 More problems: The tons of volcanic ash that fell is compounding drainage issues. There were flash floods over the entire island after yesterday’s rain, causing a lot of damage to some homes, businesses and infrastructure.

🌋 Our various Small Groups (as teams) have already started engaging the people at multiple shelters in a variety of ministry efforts including:
📌 Buddy prayer (adults) 🙏🏾
📌 Buddy letters (Youths) ✉️📬
📌 Puppet ministry (Children) 👶🏽👧🏾
📌 Worship songs 🎼👏🏾
📌 Testimonies 🎤
📌 Exhortations 📖
📌 Care packages 📦
📌 Movie ministry 🎥 🍿
📌 Games evening 🏏🏓🎾

🌋 The major news coming out of the kitchen today is that we had three volunteers from among our KBC youths coming in to help. It’s a joy to see them grafted into our ministry DNA of serving at such a young age....and they did well. Look at their pictures here.

🌋 See if you can guess how one of our small groups is using this jar meaningfully at the shelters.

UPDATE ON OUR EFFORT #15 (April 28th)
🌋 We’ve begun engaging with the young men at one nearby shelter by teaching them to drum. This is a HUGE hit with them.

🌋 Another aspect of Phase II of our intervention strategy is very popular with the children at the shelters. This is the puppet ministry through which the children are introduced to various Bible stories.

ENCORE!
Here is what one of the little ones had to say about the puppet show!
🌋 As we near 4000 meals we must take time to acknowledge the tremendous support of SEND RELIEF and other individuals who have come alongside KBC to support our efforts. Here are some recent pictures of the meal preparation efforts.

🌋 Today we also take time to appreciate our kitchen volunteers. This is what Christ has taught us to do: To give of ourselves to the service of others.

🌋 Sunday afternoon after worship, a caravan of 6 vehicles visited 2 shelters:
🔸 First stop was a puppet show, first ever performance for our KBC children ministering to children. The children in the audience connected well with the John 3:16 Bible verse, but were somewhat apprehensive.
That was their first live puppet show! Ice cream was served afterwards and the children asked for us to visit again. (See Ministry Moments below)
🔸 At the second stop we made arrangements for a small group dinner outing, and for a movie night at the shelter. We were able to meet and speak with Baptist brethren at both shelters.
🌋 Advisory for people planning on sending supplies by boat:
🔸The Prime Minister has highlighted logistical issues at our seaports which will affect the expediency with which private entities here can receive relief goods from donors. He has suggested that donors seek alternative ways of helping given the developing situation at the ports.
🌋 We continue to provide meals as per the number requested each day by the shelters. Today’s number of meals requested and provided was 150. Delicious stuff (see the pictures in today’s album).
🌋 A team from the church visited one of the shelters today and engaged in sports evangelism (Cricket and a Push-up challenge - See Ministry Moments below)
🔸The children were very helpful in working the puppets to teach Bible truths (See Ministry Moments below).

UPDATE ON OUR EFFORT #13 (April 24th)

🔸 We are about to widen our involvement. Last night we had a briefing of all small group leaders. The main focus is to engage all small group members in various ministry related efforts at multiple shelters. You will hear and see more as this unfolds in the upcoming week.
🔸 More bottled water arrived today. We are grateful to Barbados Baptist Alliance, Mt. Beulah Baptist Church (Trinidad), Deliverance Baptist Church (Dominica) and Rev. Ellis (Trinidad) for sending us bottled water for our people in the shelters.
🔸 Members of three of our churches (Sandy Bay Baptist Church, Overland Baptist Church and Deliverance Baptist Church - Chateaubelair) are in various shelters. The total number of Baptists in shelters is approximately 100.
🔸 Another of our Baptist Churches (New Creation Baptist Church in Peruvian Vale) is serving as a shelter.
🔸The Glen Baptist Church is not currently serving as a shelter but is engaged in relief efforts to various shelters.
🔸We continue to keep our commitment to provide meals for the shelters. Today we prepared and delivered a total of 200 meals.
UPDATE ON OUR EFFORT #12 (April 23rd)
PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
One of our members who is a trained counselor shares her experience of what it’s like in meeting this need, in this short clip. Please listen to her testimony:
🔸 We are only at the beginning stage of the unfolding of the true picture of the full extent of the devastation to our agriculture, livestock and structures. This is a hard one (see pictures on the main page).
🔸 We are continuing to see the hand of God daily as we try to help those in need. Two specific needs of our Baptist brethren in shelters were provided for by help received:
➡️ One small refrigerator
➡️ One tabletop stove with fittings
May God bless those who are coming alongside us to support. You may give to our efforts through our PayPal account on this page.
🔸 Our members go to the shelters DAILY, helping in other ways apart from providing meals. For example, there is a real need for counseling, which we seek to meet.

Because God has provided through generous donation of those who are supporting our efforts. Today we expect to surpass the 3,000 mark of total meals provided thus far!
Keep praying for us that in all of this we meet the greatest need of all....which is for people to have Jesus as saviour and Lord!
UPDATE ON OUR EFFORT #11 (April 22nd)

The series of eruptions continued today with another around midday today. This one was smaller in scope.
🔸 Thanking God for the provision of funds to purchase a small fridge to help out members of one of our churches in one of the shelters.
🔸 Today’s target for provision of meals for dinner was 200 (see today’s album above to guess what was served 😉)
🔸 We are grateful to the members of God’s household near and far who are following our efforts, while praying for and supporting us in various measures.
➡️ Please know this: It means A LOT to know we are not alone in this! May God bless all those who come alongside us to bear up our hands at this time.

The most important part of our relief is NOT the physical food. Please take a few seconds to listen to the clip by Nyasha. It’ll give an idea of the other dimensions of our ongoing intervention.
UPDATE ON OUR EFFORT #10 (April 21st)

Today we prepared a total of 200 meals for dinner.
Because of the volume of meals we are putting out daily we have had to enhance our kitchen facilities with additional appliances. Another major piece was added today.
We are grateful to the generosity of those who are contributing to make this possible.
🔸 We received more water today at the port. A huge thank you to the folks at Deliverance Baptist Church (Dominica), Mt. Beulah Baptist Church (Trinidad) and Baptist Alliance of Barbados for sending water our way.
🔸 Our Small Groups continue to engage in meaningful ways. Here are two endeavours that they are following through on:
➡️ One group has permission to do devotions at two different shelters
➡️ As relief items come in, some groups will take them in packages to people in the shelters (some of which house our Baptist brethren)
🔸 Our Disaster Response Management Team is growing as the task increases. We welcome aboard:
1. Kevin (logistics for pick up and delivery)
2. Pauline (Relief Response overview)
Ministers who are checking in on us.

We continue to receive encouragement and support from our extended Baptist family as we assist during the crisis.
UPDATE ON OUR EFFORT #9 (April 20th)

We are well on the way to meeting our target of 300 dinners!
Although the kitchen volunteers are in the heat of things every day, there are many others who are plugging in to our church’s relief effort....or are getting ready to do so at the shelters in the upcoming days:
➡️ Evangelism Team: Sports evangelism
➡️ Worship Team: Worship singing and short devotions
➡️ Children’s Ministry Team: Live puppet shows to entertain the children
➡️ Youths: Activities with the young people
Ministers who are checking in on us.

It has been heartening to feel the love and care of our extended Baptist family at our time of crisis. So many have been checking in on us over these days. Check to see SOME of these....you might even recognize a few faces!
Christianity Today (a major publication among Christians, regardless of denomination) gave testimony of our effort to the international audience (Read the article). LOOP (a Caribbean publication) also have shared the story of our intervention efforts throughout the Caribbean (Read the article).
UPDATE ON OUR EFFORT #8 (April 19th)

Our kitchen volunteers continue their daily ministry of providing food. Today they were able to prepare a total of 290 meals. To date we’ve provided a total of 1,815 meals. We just received notice of another consignment of drinking water on its way to us. This will be distributed on arrival later this week. Thank God!
Take a moment to pray for:
🙏🏾 All of the displaced people. God only knows what it feels like to live in a shelter rather than in your home.
🙏🏾 Our hardworking Disaster Response Management Team
🙏🏾 Open doors to engage in the vital aspect of our intervention: To share the gospel of the love of God through multiple activities at these centers.
🙏🏾 Thank God for those who are sacrificing to give in different ways to make our relief intervention possible.

Girls Plus God did relief efforts at two different centers in Barrouallie yesterday. They distributed care packages of personal items from the 58 which they had packaged on Saturday.
They responded to the requests from the evacuees and sang many worship songs to the delight and appreciation of those gathered (listen the short clip of this above). Kasia accompanied the team of our young ladies and delivered “the word” about the need to be fed with both physical and spiritual food (see video above).
UPDATE ON OUR EFFORT #7 (April 17th)

Today’s target for meals prepared was 250. Hats off to today’s kitchen volunteers working so hard to meet this target.
-
We purchased and installed a brand new oven to facilitate the baking aspect of our meal preparation. The team set to work with it immediately, and made a large quantity of doughboy.
-
Right after they took out the first batch I prayed right there and then that as we provide physical bread to the evacuees, we will also maximize the opportunity to share the Bread of Life with the people in the centers.
-
We had access to a truck today (thanks to Curtis) to pick up two different consignments of water from Barbados and Trinidad for distribution, along with the oven (thanks Kevin).

Our KBC young ladies in Girls Plus God, were outstanding again today. They spent their evening preparing care packages (of toiletries and personal items). They will deliver these tomorrow to a center they have chosen
UPDATE ON OUR EFFORT #6 (April 16th)

Today we provided 200 bowls of soups to the shelters through NEMO. This was a welcome change up to what we had been doing all week....and took more effort.....but thank God for the new volunteers who got started real early in the morning and stayed with it all day.
The men chipped in today in a big way. They put in lots of hours in cleaning up the volcanic ash that was EVERYWHERE in and around the facility. Because our facility is our center for relief operations it was NECESSARY to have this done

We were informed that a crate of water has arrived at the port in our name. We will clear this tomorrow (Saturday) and begin immediately distribution.
UPDATE ON OUR EFFORT #5 (April 15th)

We reached the 300 target in the provision of dinners for today. Our facility is being used as an ancillary site for NEMO’s daily functioning. We are happy to report that:
-
Members brought in more donations of supplies for the kitchen
-
New Kitchen volunteers came on board again!

Pastor Richards and the Response Management Team in a strategic planning session for the weeks ahead as KBC continues to reach out to the needs of persons in the shelters.
UPDATE ON OUR EFFORT #4 (April 14th)

This evening we prepared and delivered 250 meals for dinner. It is wonderful to see more people come on board with our relief effort each day:
-
12 additional kitchen volunteers
-
Donations of clothing and other items dropped off at the church
-
Small group members contributed to the needs at the evacuation centers
-
We directly delivered items to assist one of our sister churches
AND THE MOST HEART-WARMING PART: Girls & God (our KBC young ladies) did relief packages from their own resources!!!! 👏🏾👏🏾

UPDATE ON OUR EFFORT #3 (April 13th)
This evening we prepared 95 rotis, 59 fried rice and 31 vegetable rice, totaling 185 servings in all. We had 10 kitchen volunteers. 2 more volunteers were sorting out clothes for distribution. Small group members delivered and distributed items at the evacuation shelters. We will engage in this kind of relief effort day after day and it’s going to be all hands on deck for this at KBC.
UPDATE ON OUR EFFORT #2 (April 10th)

Thanks to those who volunteered and provided resources, we were able to provide dinner for another 170 tonight. We will continue to help in this much needed area of service in the days ahead.
UPDATE ON OUR EFFORT #1 (April 9th)

We were able to provide 170 meals to the evacuation shelters through NEMO for dinner. Our KBC members stepped up big time today in many ways to make this possible.
We look forward to serving our Vincentian brothers and sisters in the days ahead in their time of need. I will keep you posted on what we are doing.
